Today has been very exciting for me in the "tech" world!  My daughter, Shannon, has agreed to help me connect my FB and my Etsy shop along with my blog!  I'm only 52 but my mind/brain just doesn't work like that anymore!  My other daughter, Mary, will be (hopefully) taking my pictures in the near future as opposed to me and my phone!  This is all so new and exciting for me.  I just hope that my part in the whole thing doesn't burn out!

Lately I have been painting on drop cloth cut in to squares for pillow cases.  I bet you didn't know that all drop cloths are not made the same!  Every time I buy a new one, it is a different fabric/weave/texture than the previous one.  Painting on these is fun yet frustrating because the paint is sucked right into the fabric.  The remedy for this is to water down your paint, however, this leads to bleeding (the lines are already not crisp and straight) which makes for a frustrating day.  Some times it works, some times it doesn't.  Anyway.......here are a few pictures of what I have been working on these past few days:

I have been working on perfecting the whole bike scene; borders or no borders...captions or no captions... any input from you?  Please feel free to write a comment in the box below!

With wedding season fast approaching, I thought this would make a great gift for the new bride (at her shower or whatever).  The license plate is where the date of the wedding would go.

this poor bunny is bottom heavy, could it be from having those babies?

Either way, all are still works in progress- the thought process and working it out takes the longest, once that is done, then the fun part begins!

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your week!  God Bless you :)

New Year, New Name, Same Blog

Hello!  HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have been away from my blog for just a little over a year.  During that time I have toyed with the idea of giving it up completely or changing my attitude about the whole blogging experience.  I have decided on option number 2.  I am still happy hands at home and a DIYer, but my main focus is on painting, hence the new name of the blog.  Painted on a Whim best describes my style.  When I get the urge to paint, I paint a lot.  Lately, I have been painting pillow covers.  I usually paint to sell, why I do not know.  I have been selling to my instagram and FB friends but thought it best to get serious now that I have more time for me in my life.  A few of my kids moved out and I have adopted one bedroom for my painting and the other for sewing.  I'm hoping to one day merge these two rooms into one.
But, I am not looking to get rid of #6 anytime soon!  Below are some of the Valentine pillows I have designed, sewn and paionted for my new Etsy shop called PaintedOnAWhim, if you have a moment, please check it out!

Each of these pillow covers have been hand painted and sewn to fit specific pillow forms.  It is amazing what you can do with a drop cloth!

Next I will be working on Easter and Mothers Day.

God Bless you
