Dog Days of Summer

Hello!  We have reached the end of July and I know most of you are sad.   I saw on someones instagram that there are only 40 Thursdays until Christmas!  WHAT?!?   I was shocked to read on some southern insta accounts that their kids are starting back to school - my daughter just finished in the middle of June!  Although years ago when all six were home, I couldn't wait til school started.  Being home with them is a challenge in of itself, but figuring out what to do with them all day, every day wasn't easy.

This is her expression for those people you invite to your home and when they show up, all they do is act like you are putting them out for inviting them over for a meal or party.  If this is they way you are going to act, you should have stayed home!  hahahahaha!

ie:  Be grateful for what you have.

Because now adays you need to find entertain for your kids cause all the kids in the neighborhood are in daycare, I remember
dragging everyone to the pool from 10am til 4pm.  I don't know who disliked it more (as they got to be 10 and up), me or them!  It was such an ordeal to make lunches, get all the towels off the line and in the pool bag, put sun screen on everyone, remember snacks,
diapers, bottles, etc.  and hopefully scrounge up enough money so they could get water ice from the snack bar!  Then sitting out there in the sun/heat - I am so glad those days are L O N G gone!   One time I got to the pool and did a head count and only counted 5 kids - hmmmmm - was #6 still in the car?  I ran out to check, nope!  I had to collect everyone again, strap seat belts, car seats, etc....(no a/c, that cost money!)  and head home - only to discover Billy hiding out in his bed cause he didn't want to go to the pool!   It is funny now, but I was furious with him then, hahahahah.   So before you judge me, have yourself 6 or more children under 10 and stay home to raise them all day, every day.  Hey, stuff happens!   We all laugh about it now!   I think he was in 2nd grade....... oh well, he survived.    Trying to keep track of 6 kids at the pool is not an easy feat either, not to mention potty training too!   But they were the good old days - now I look forward to one day becoming a grandmother and enjoying it all over again, but better!       So here I am - only one left in school and this is her last year - I didn't think we would ever get out of diapers and now my baby will be a SENIOR this year!   The days are long but the weeks certainly fly by.

So now that I don't spend my summers sitting pool side and chasing kids, I try to be creative.  I added a few more pillows to the Annette collection. For those of you who don't know, she is my mother-in-law.  She is a wonderful wonderful woman.  Some day I'll share about her - in the mean time, I will write her quotes down and make art!   These pillows and others are available in my Etsy  shop.

Have a blessed rest of the summer!   I will be posting about some of my new Halloween pillows next time so tune in!

God Bless you,

Trisha
